Actions

General Information

Device geolocation data can be used to determine a lost or stolen device's location and aid in recovery. However, while Workspace ONE currently collects device geolocation data, University privacy policy dictates that this data will only be made available to units upon request, and only after approval by the Technology Services Privacy and Security Office.

If you suspect that a device has been stolen, please report it to the University of Illinois police department.
In addition, send an email to security@illinois.edu with device details including both wired and wireless MAC addresses.
This information will be used to monitor if the device shows up on the campus network.

Requesting Location Data

Location data requests must be submitted in writing by following the general format provided in this template.

Lost Mode

For iOS/iPadOS devices, as an alternative to a location data request, if a device is only suspected to be misplaced and not stolen, Lost Mode can be used to lock the screen and present a message and phone number to the person currently in possession of the device, requesting that they report the device location to you.
