Classrooms - AV - CMWT Small Classrooms video conferencing and display settings

Use the projector, ceiling microphones, cameras, and speakers in CMWT Small Classrooms.

These rooms are "BYOD" - Bring Your Own Device. There are cable connections at the table and a control panel on the wall that allow you to display content on the projector and use the room mics&cameras to video conference.

Use Projector for in-room display

  1. Be sure your device is on
  2. Turn on projector using Wall Control Panel

    Hold down the "ON" button for a few seconds until you hear the projector beep, then release.

  3. Wait for Screen to descend and default Projector image to display
  4. Connect HDMI cable to your device

    Your device may require an adapter to connect to HDMI if it does not have an HDMI port.

  5. Wait for your device to recognize the connection to the projector

    Your device screen may flash black and appear with a different resolution, and the projector display may also flash once before showing your device on the screen.

Use Room Speakers for audio (no video conferencing)

  1. Follow steps for Projector first

  2. In your Audio or System settings on your device, select "Extron" or "Epson" for audio output.

    This may vary device to device and room to room.

    "Extron" or "Epson" output choices if only using audio out, no microphones
    Note: these are examples from a 2022 version of MacOS and a 2022 version of Windows. Different operating systems and versions thereof have entirely different "Audio Output" displays, so you should navigate on *your* device.

  3. If you do not see Epson or Extron output choices and/or you still do not have audio out, please follow the instructions for "Use room microphone(s) and camera for video conferencing" and use the USB cable as described below to enable different audio selection possibilities.

  1. Follow steps for Projector first

  2. After successfully displaying to the projector,

    connect the USB cable to your device

    Your device may require an adapter to connect to USB if it does not have a USB-A port.

  3. Open the Sound controls on your device, or the Sound controls within the specific app you want to use.
    Below are examples for Zoom.

  4. Start Zoom meeting
  5. Select "ClassRm" for both Room Microphone and Speakers:

    Note: when "ClassRm" audio output is first selected, the sound starts very quiet and grows over the course of a few seconds. Count to 5 to wait for the sound to kick in.
  6. Select "ClassRm" for the Room Camera:

Turn Off Projector When Finished

  1. Disconnect the table cables from your device.
  2. Turn off projector using Wall Control Panel
    Hold down the "OFF" button for a few seconds until you hear the projector beep, then release.
    1. The screen will ascend
    2. The projector image will disappear
