Microsoft Teams, Set up Voicemail

This article will walk through the steps for configuring voicemail settings in Microsoft Teams. It also includes a solution to a common bug.

As of July 2023, Microsoft Teams is the campus telephone client. Teams users must configure their voicemail settings in order for calls to ring to it properly. Even if you had voicemail set up in Skype for Business previously, double-check your settings by following this guide.

In Teams, open the Settings window (top-right, select the "...," then the gear icon).

Select "Calls" on the left-hand list.

Set the "If unanswered" drop-down to "Voicemail."

Note: even if Voicemail is already selected, the first time you visit Settings, please change it to something else and change it back. This will address a common bug that ignores the voicemail setting after migrating from Skype for Business.

Set the ring duration to your preference. 10 seconds will be about 3 rings. 20 seconds will be 4-5.

(Optional) Record a new voicemail greeting by selecting the "Configure voicemail" button.

(Optional) You may also configure different ring tones in this window.
