MITS System Office, Windows 11 Transition Guide

This document is a guide for clients supported by MITS System Office to adjust from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It includes how to change the orientation of the Windows 11 Start Menu and how to connect to the AITS VPN in Windows 11.

Adjusting the Windows 11 Start Menu

1. Right click on the taskbar and click on Taskbar settings

2. Select Taskbar behaviors

3. Look for Taskbar alignment and change Center to Left

Connecting to the AITS VPN

1. Open the network menu from the tool tray in the lower right corner of your screen.

2. Make sure you’re connected to the internet. If you’re connecting from home, make sure you’re connected to your home WiFi network.

3. Select the VPN option from the network menu.

4. Select the AITS Urbana VPN option, then click Connect.

5. Verify with 2FA as normal.

 

Technical Differences: Win10 vs Win11

Windows 11 and Windows 10 technical differences

WINDOWS 11

WINDOWS 10

Windows 11 was released on June 24, 2021.

Windows 10 was released on July 15, 2015.

Windows 11 is based on macOS functionality.

Windows 11 is based on Android functionality.

Windows 11 only runs on devices with TPM 2.0

Windows 10 only runs on devices with TPM 1.2 or above.

Windows 11 only runs on devices with a minimum of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Windows 10 only runs on devices with a minimum of 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.

Windows 11 only runs on devices with Intel Core i Series 8th generation, AMD Zen+ series processors or higher.

Windows 10 only runs on devices with Intel Core i Series 4th generation series processors or higher.

Windows 11 has adjusted the Start menu to the center of the screen but it can be changed.

Windows 10 has adjusted the Start menu to the left of the screen.

Windows 11 has integrated Microsoft Teams within it and there is no separate app in it.

Microsoft Teams is a separate part of Windows 10 and need to be installed separately.

Windows 11 features faster unlock timing and more efficient performance.

Windows 10 introduced these features the first time, so they were not as effective as Windows 11.

Microsoft will continue the support version for Windows 11 till the next version is launched.

Microsoft will end the support version for Windows 10 in 2025.

The graphics card used are DirectX9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver.

Windows 11 has display of high definition(720p), 8 bits per color channel.

Windows 10 has display of 800 X 600.
