Learn@Illinois Moodle - Student's Guide to the Entire Course Moodle LTI in Canvas
If your course is using the Moodle LTI, you will access your course through Canvas but see Moodle content embedded within it. This is to provide you with a single access point to all your courses, while allowing instructors to retain content they have created on Moodle. Please note that this article only applies to courses using the Entire Course LTI, not individual activity LTIs.
Accessing and Navigating Your Course
On your Canvas site, you will see a link to access the Moodle course content. Once clicked, Moodle content will show up embedded within your course in Canvas. You will need to navigate between tabs or sections in the embedded content to access all of the activities in this site.
Each activity you click on from this embedded site will have the same URL; so for this reason, you cannot send or receive a direct link to particular activities. You will only have the URL for the course homepage.
Grades
You should refer to the Moodle gradebook for an accurate snapshot of your grade at any point during the course. The Canvas gradebook will either be hidden from your view or will not portray an accurate grade until the end of the semester.
Canvas Calendar
Since all course content is embedded within a single link on Canvas, individual assignments and quizzes will not show up in the Canvas Calendar. Make sure to keep up with your coursework, and don't depend on the calendar to show you all your deadlines.
How to Get Support
For any technical issues with this course, please reach out to ATLAS TLT at atlas-tlt@illinois.edu. Instructure/Canvas support will not be able to help with the Moodle content embedded in your course.
Below is an example of what a course using the Entire Course LTI may look like.
