By default when sourcing from a relational database, such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server, Denodo will not automatically include the table and field comments in base views.

To turn this functionality on, follow these steps:

1. Open the data source configuration in Design Studio.
2. On the Advanced tab, expand the Driver Properties section.
3. Scroll down the list to the remarksReporting and set the value from false to True.
   1. NOTE: if the remarksReporting entry is not listed, click +New Property and add the following:
      1. Name: remarksReporting
      2. Value: True
4. Save the changes.
5. Open the Base View created from this data source and in the Edit section, click the Source Refresh link.
6. Descriptions of the tables/columns should now be listed.

Note: If you have already imported a base view, you can do a Source Refresh on the base view to ingest comments after this feature has been turned on.

Note: the Data Catalog is updated on the 45^th minute of every hour. The Data Catalog will be updated to include newly added metadata during the next update.
