If you are using ProctorU with the Moodle LTI, there are a few extra steps to make sure that it works properly.

Enabling ProctorU in a Moodle Quiz

First, follow these instructions to enable ProctorU in a Moodle quiz.

Next, follow the steps below based on whether you are using the Entire Course LTI or the Individual Activity LTI. If you don't know which LTI you are using, or need any assistance with this process, please reach out to atlas-tlt@illinois.edu.

Entire Course LTI

  1. First, open the quiz in a new tab, as shown below. This takes you to lti.learn.illinois.edu, the Moodle site where your course is hosted. Open in new tab
  2. Copy the lti.learn URL of the quiz you are setting up. Copy the quiz URL
  3. Navigate back to the Moodle course page and add a URL resource with the quiz URL you just copied. By default, this will open in a new window when clicked, which is necessary for ProctorU to work correctly. Add a URL resource with the quiz URL
  4. To access the quiz, students need to click on the URL resource rather than clicking on the quiz itself. You should make the quiz "Available but not shown on course page" to avoid confusion.Course with quiz and quiz URL

Individual Activity LTI

  1. In Canvas, navigate to the Canvas assignment settings for the quiz by going to Assignments > three dots next to the activity you wish to edit > Edit. Edit assignment settings
  2. Click More Options in the next window that pops up. More Options
  3. Under Submission Type, check the box to have the activity open in a new tab. Check box to load in new tab
  4. Scroll down to click Save.
  5. When students click on the activity, it will open for them in lti.learn, which is necessary for ProctorU to work correctly.
