Microsoft Forms Collaboration Limitations
This knowledge base article outlines the limitations of using Microsoft Forms for collaboration across different cloud environments. It explains why collaboration is restricted to users within the same cloud and offers guidance on addressing related issues.
When using Microsoft Forms to collaborate with individuals outside your university, there are certain limitations due to the cloud environment. Collaboration in Microsoft Forms is only available for users within the same cloud environment.
- Same Cloud Requirement: Collaboration is limited to users within the same cloud environment. For example, if the sender's account is xxxxxx@illinois.edu and they want to add collaborators by specifying "Anyone with an Office 365 work or school account can edit and view result," this will only work if the recipients are also within the same cloud environment, such as xxxxxx@xxxxxxxx.edu.
- Example Scenario: If you, as the sender xxxxxx@illinois.edu, attempt to add a collaborator with an account like xxxxxx@oglecountyil.gov, the collaboration will not work. This is because the EDU Cloud and Government Cloud are separate environments, and such collaboration is not supported. Conversely, if you, as the sender xxxxxx@oglecountyil.gov, attempt to add a collaborator with an account like xxxxxx@illinois.edu, the collaboration will also not work.
- Error Message: When attempting to collaborate between the EDU Cloud and Government Cloud, you will receive an error message indicating the incompatibility.
