Policy
The purpose of this policy is to provide clarification for hourly civil service employees who are assigned to work in the VTH during a university-designated holiday and call off for their shift and/or on-call shift. This policy aims to ensure the well-being of our employees and maintain operational efficiency during holiday periods.
Guidelines
Employees must notify their supervisor or the designated point of contact as soon as possible if they are unable to work due to illness on a holiday for which they are scheduled. Along with the notification, employees are required to submit acceptable medical evidence, such as a doctor's note or medical certificate, within 24 hours of the absence.
Acceptable medical evidence should include:
- Employee's name.
- Date(s) of the medical visit or treatment.
- Clear indication of the medical professional's recommendation for absence on the specified holiday(s).
Failure to provide acceptable medical evidence within the designated timeframe may result in the absence being considered unexcused, and appropriate disciplinary actions may be taken.
Procedure (if applicable)
- Employee notifies supervisor or designated point of contact at least one hour prior to their shift that they will not be reporting for their shift.
- Employee provides their supervisor or designated point of contact with acceptable medical evidence within 24 hours of their absence.
