Multifactor Authentication (MFA), Setup Passkeys with Microsoft Authenticator
Before you begin, make sure Microsoft Authenticator is already installed and configured on your device. You can follow the directions here, MFA Setup, to install Authenticator.
Windows Users:
Open a browser and navigate to https://aka.ms/mfasetup. Enter your NetID@illinois.edu, and password. Then click Next to get to the Duo Push.

On the Security info page, click Add sign-in method.
In the pop-up, select Passkey in Microsoft Authenticator.

Follow the on-screen instructions: Ensure your device has Android 14 or iOS 17 and the latest version of Microsoft Authenticator. In Authenticator, select your University of Illinois account and choose Create a passkey. Your Security info page will now show the new passkey method. (You may need to refresh the screen for this to show).

Go to a protected resource such as uofi.box.com. When signing in on the password page, choose Use your face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key instead.

Select your passkey device (e.g., Pixel 6) and complete the sign-in on your phone.
