Wymer Team/Conference Room Tech Guide

This is a detailed list of how to use the technology in the conference rooms at Steven Wymer Hall (SWH).

Using the Room PC

  • Touch the “Share” button on the touch panel
  • For more control over what comes up on each display - turn on Advanced Mode on (located on the left side of the screen)
  • Select Room PC from the ribbon - Then tap the windows you want to display the Room PC on.
  • Tap the space, up or down buttons to wake up the PC
  • When the login screen comes up, login with your UIUC NetID and password
  • You should be able to use Teams and any of the Microsoft programs: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.
  • You can also use Zoom from the Room PC. When prompted, sign in using your UIUC Zoom account.
  • Zoom – You cannot share in Zoom from your laptop or wireless device through the Room PC (like in a classroom). You can share anything from the Room PC.
  • Zoom from Room PC: both the audio and video should automatically be set to “Meeting Owl.” – 
  • Logging Off: Double-click the yellow Log Off icon on the Windows desktop
  • End Session: Touch “End Session” on the touch panel (this does not log you out of the Room PC)

Using your laptop - Wired

  • Plug in the provided HDMI cable located on top of the table. There are several adapters provided, but you can also bring your own.
  • Press the Share button on the Touch Panel. For easier navigation, turn Advanced Mode on (located ont he left side of the screen.)
  • Select “Wired” on the touch panel and tap the window you would like to display your laptop on.
  • You must use the Room PC for Zoom sessions using the room camera (Owl.)
  • You should be connected
  • End Session: When you are finished, tap End Session on the Touch Panel to power down the system properly and unhook the HDMI cable from your computer.

Using your PC - Wireless

  • You must use the Room PC for Zoom sessions using the room camera (Owl).
  • Press the Share button on the Touch Panel. For easier navigation, turn Advanced Mode on (located on the left side of the screen.)
  • Select Wireless on the touch panel and tap the window on the touch panel you want to display your device on.
  • On your laptop, press keyboard shortcut Windows +K
  • Select “Room# Wymer” on your display
  • Enter Code that appears in the lower-middle of screen or it is also listed on the left side of the touch panel
  • Select “Connect
  • Click the pushpin at the top of screen to unpin from the toolbar.
  • To disconnect
    • Windows +K
    • Click “Disconnect”
  • End Session - When you are finished, tap End Session on the Touch Panel to power down the system properly

Using your MAC/Apple Device - Wireless

  • You must use the Room PC for Zoom sessions using the room camera (Owl).
  • Press the Share button on the Touch Panel. For easier navigation, turn Advanced Mode on (located on the left side of the screen.)
  • Select Wireless on the touch panel and tap the window on the touch panel you want to display your device on.
  • On the Mac/Apple device, open AirPlay menu in the menu bar or Control Center
  • Select Screen Mirroring
  • Choose Room, Room# Wymer
  • Enter the 4-digit code (displayed lower-middle on screen or left side of the touch panel)
  • To disconnect
    • Open Screen Mirroring
    • Select Room (it is actually deselecting room)
  • End Session - When you are finished, tap End Session on the Touch Panel to power down the system properly
