What’s Happening

Due to budget constraints, free Adobe Creative Cloud access for Illinois students will end on December 31, 2025.
Students who wish to continue using Adobe software on their personal computers may purchase individual licenses beginning December 2025, which will remain active through June 30, 2026.

What Adobe Shared Device Licensing (SDL) Offers

Adobe Shared Device Licensing (SDL) allows departments to provide students with free access to Adobe Creative Cloud applications on university-owned shared computers used for classroom and lab instruction.

SDL licenses the device, not the user. Faculty and staff can install pre-licensed SDL packages on shared lab and classroom computers, giving students access to Adobe apps without requiring individual subscriptions.

How to Get Started

Faculty or staff installing SDL apps should claim the Adobe Managed Shared Device (SDL) Site License Installation Packages for UI IT Pros from the WebStore catalog.
This provides access to individually packaged Creative Cloud app downloads and installation instructions.

New SDL installation packages are posted monthly as updated versions become available.

Requirements

• Access to the catalog listing is limited to Illinois faculty and staff who are on the IT Pros list.

• Those not currently on the list can email webstore@illinois.edu to request access.

• Adobe SDL apps still require users to log in with their Illinois credentials to use the software.

• SDL applications are not automatically updated and must be maintained by an IT Pro. Outdated apps may stop functioning if not kept current.
