How to Install Read&Write Windows on a Single Computer

This provides an overview of how to install Read and Write for a single user on a Windows computer.

Download Read&Write

  1. Go to webstore.illinois.edu
  2. Search for the Read&Write offer -> Add to cart -> Agree to End User License Agreement (EULA) -> Checkout

  3. In your order history find the Read&Write transaction
  4. Download the installation package for your system (Windows or Mac)

  5. Once downloaded, go to the folder that you saved Read&Write to. If you did not choose a folder, you can find the readNwrite.exe in the Downloads Folder
  6. Once in the folder, right-click on readNwrite.exe -> Run as administrator
  7. Click on "Accept and Install". Read&Write will now be installed on the computer

Signing into and activating Read&Write

When Read&Write is finished installing, you need to sign in and activate Read&Write to access the premium features of the software.

  1. Open Read&Write from the Desktop
  2. Click on the Read&Write tab at the top of the screen. This will open a sign-in window with the default browser.

  3. Sign into Read&Write using one of the available options

      • Important Note: The first time you use Read&Write you will sign in with your @illinois.edu email address. Please select sign in with Google or Microsoft from the options. This will take you to your University single sign on page. Do NOT use the "Workplace email" option

  4. Read&Write for Windows is now activated and ready to be used

Troubleshooting

If Read&Write does not activate after signing in with your @illinois.edu account follow these steps:

  1. Click the Information button on the Read&Write toolbar and go to About Read&Write

  2. Enter this Read&Write Product Code: GW2Q3CTY, then Activate
