U of I Box, Recover Deleted Files

Is it possible to recover files after they have been deleted?

Deleted items are stored in the Trash folder for 30 days before being deleted permanently.

To access the Trash:

  1. Log in to https://box.illinois.edu
  2. Click Trash in the left sidebar.
  3. Select Items I Deleted to view items you deleted in your own or a collaborator's folder. Select Items I Own to see deleted items which you own and have been deleted by collaborators.

If you need additional assistance, please contact the Help Desk at (217) 244-7000 or consult@illinois.edu.  If you know file names and the approximate date and time of deletion, please include this information.

Escalation Information: (some basic information that must be documented prior to escalation). 
Required information to gather:
  • NetID
  • Error message
  • Screenshot of the issue 
  • Steps to reproduce the problem
*If you are unable to find an answer that resolves the customer issue, please escalate as shown below with the required information listed above. Speak with a supervisor or Team Lead for additional input, if needed.
Where to escalate the ticket to:
  • Request Area: Tech Services.U of I Box
    • Choose an appropriate sub-area if possible
  • Transfer the ticket to: TechSvcs-Box-Tier 3

Service Outage Reports

  • If a customer is reporting a service outage, please transfer the ticket immediately and reach out to a service admin or service owner via Skype for Business.
