Wiki, How to search within a space

NOTE: The University of Illinois is in the process of retiring its Confluence wiki. No new spaces can be created since June 2023. Existing spaces can be used until December 2023, at which point they will become read-only until June 2024. For alternatives, visit the Wiki Options Finder or contact the wiki team for a consultation.

Is it possible to search within a wiki space?

You can search within a particular wiki space by visiting the search page and selecting or entering the relevant space name from the "Space" dropdown in the left sidebar.  The wiki search page is located here: https://wiki.illinois.edu/wiki/dosearchsite.action

It is possible also for a space admin  to add a live search macro for 'search inside space' directly to their wiki space. The live search macro allows you to add a search box to a wiki page which will search only within that particular wiki space.

  1. Go to the page you want to put this space search box on.
  2. Click 'Edit'.
  3. Click '+Insert' from the top menu.
  4. Select 'Other Macros'.
  5. Search for and select "Livesearch"
  6. Fill in the Space key and other options
  7. Click Insert
  8. Save the page

The search box with your selected options will now appear on the page. When you start typing in it, some pages containing the search key will appear in a drop down as you type. Hit enter to view all results.
