Webstore, Update a Solidworks license

I'm trying to update my Solidworks license but I get an error that the activation failed because the license has expired.

This can happen if the old license is still installed.  To fix this issue, please do the following:

  1. From the start menu, type "regedit" in the search bar.
  2. Select the root folder "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
  3. Select the folder "SOFTWARE"
  4. Select the folder "Solidworks"
  5. Select the folder "Licenses"
  6. Open the "Serial Numbers" folder
  7. Double click "Solidworks"  
  8. Change the License number to the updated version.
