Kaltura, File size and quality

Maximum file size, space allowed and recommended quality settings

What is the maximum (file size) I can upload for a single file and total uploads?

Illinois Media Space does not have a file size limit; however, due to browser restrictions the largest file that may be uploaded from the desktop is 4GB. If you need help uploading files larger than this size or importing from other server please contact Technology Services.

Is there a maximum amount of space that I am allowed to use?

There is not a set number of files or storage space you are limited to in Illinois Media Space, but we ask that users keep your source file storage to 50GB per staff or faculty member or 5GB per student. If you are working on specific projects that might need more storage please let us know.

What file type and quality settings do you recommend?

To achieve the best results from your video upload, we recommend videos to upload be 1280x720 MP4s (using the H.264 codec) at a bit rate of 3000kbps (3Mbps).
