How to create a playlist

You can create custom playlists to organize and share your media outside of Illinois Media Space. To create a playlist:

• On the 'My Media' tab, find the first media item that you would like to be in your playlist and select it, by placing a check in the box provided. {Please note: media must contain a description prior to being published and/or added to a playlist}
• Click the 'Actions' drop-down menu, in the upper right corner of the page, and select 'Add to Playlist'.
• Type the name of your new playlist in the 'Add New Playlist' box.
• Click the 'Add' button to create the playlist and add your first media item to it.

How to add media to a playlist

• On the 'My Media' tab, find the first media item that you would like to be in your playlist and select it, by placing a check in the box provided. (Please note: media must contain a description prior to being published and/or added to a playlist)
• Click the 'Actions' drop-down menu, in the upper right corner of the page, and select 'Add to Playlist'.
• Type the name of your new playlist in the 'Add New Playlist' box.
• Check the checkbox next to the playlist to which you would like to add the media.

How to remove media from a playlist

You can remove media from a playlist in three different places on Illinois Media Space. From both the 'My Playlists' page and from the 'Add to Playlists' button on you 'My Media' page or an individual media page.

• From the 'My Playlists' page:
  • Under your account name in the upper right corner, select 'My Playlists'.
  • Select the playlist that you wish to edit.
  • The media from this playlist will appear in a list. In the upper right corner of each media item, you can click the 'X' to remove the media from the playlist.
  • You will then be asked to confirm if you would like to remove the media item from the playlist.
  • Click 'Delete' to finish removing the media item. Note: this does not delete the media from Illinois Media Space, this only remove the media from the playlist.
  • Select the 'Save Changes' button.
• From the 'My Media' tab:
  • Find the media item that you would like to remove from your playlist and select it.
  • Select the 'Actions' button in the upper right corner of the 'My Media' page. From the actions drop down, select '+ Add to Playlist'.
  • Uncheck the box next to the name of the playlist that you are removing the media item from.
  • Click 'Save' to save your changes.
• From an individual media page:
  • Select the 'Actions' button on the right, below the media player. From the actions drop down, select '+ Add to Playlist'.
  • Uncheck the box next to the name of the playlist that you are removing the media item from.
  • Click 'Save' to save your changes.

How to reorder a playlist

• Under your account name in the upper right corner, select 'My Playlists' to go to the Playlists page.
• Select the playlist that you wish to edit.
• In the list of media below, click and drag the media item that you move and drop it into its new position.
• Click 'Save Changes' to save your changes.

How to embed a playlist

• Under your account name in the upper right corner, select ‘My Playlists’ to go to the Playlists page.
• Select the playlist you wish to embed
• Click the 'Embed' button to reveal the embed code options.
• Choose the a layout that you would like to use for your embedded player by checking its corresponding box. Note: choosing a player skin makes no difference to the actual player embeded.
• Copy the embed code from the 'Embed Code' box and paste it into your own site.
• Players use secure embed codes, which means that if a video asset in the playlist is password protected, a viewer will need to log in to view the content. Publicly viewable videos will appear to anyone looking at the embedded playlist, secure videos will not be visible without authentication.
• As of December 2017 there is a bug in the horizontal playlist player. If some of the content is password protected, and other content is not, the player controls are cut off. Once the viewer logs in and has access to view the media, the controls appear as normal.

How to delete a playlist

• Under your account name in the upper right corner, select ‘My Playlists’ to go to the Playlists page.
• Select the playlist that you wish to delete.
• Click the 'Delete Playlist' button at the top of the page.
• Click 'Delete' to finish removing the playlist. Please note that you cannot undo this action.
