General Information
Printing is currently offered for students, faculty, and staff in the DURP Computer Lab in TBH 227, and for select users in other locations. Printing is facilitated and managed through the use of networked printers, server-based print queues, and PaperCut software. Printers are available from lab computers and can also be added to personally owned computers (see below).
PaperCut
PaperCut is used to charge users appropriately for printing and help track and monitor printing systems. When users print to DURP lab printers they are offered the opportunity to review and confirm charges before releasing their print jobs for printing. Lab users are charged as follows:
- Students: Student printing is charged to their PaperCut "Billing" account. Charges are transferred to their Banner SAR account on or before the 1st of each month.
- Faculty and staff: Non-student printing is charged to the user's FAA-DURP-credit account in PaperCut, provided that the user has a positive balance.
- Shared accounts: Select users may be allowed to charge their printing to shared accounts for projects or classes, when appropriate. Charges will be audited. Please visit the TBH Business Services Center in room 105 to request a shared account.
Also note that students, faculty, and staff from DURP are allowed to use the Architecture labs for printing. Certain Shared Accounts may be usable on Architecture printers subject to inter-departmental arrangements.
Please see the PaperCut user web interface for your balances and print history and to accept charges and release jobs for printing.
For more information on print charging, please see our documentation on PaperCut.
Please see printing with PaperCut for step-by-step instructions on printing with this system.
Refunds
Requests for refunds should be made through the Department of Urban & Regional Planning. Please visit the DURP front office in TBH 111 inquire.
BYOD Printing
Self-service printer connection instructions are provided for users who wish to manually connect to printers from University-owned/Technology Services at FAA-managed devices or personally owned devices. Technology Services at FAA cannot guarantee that users will be able to print from personally owned or non-Technology Services at FAA managed devices. The user assumes all liability associated with printing from personally owned devices.
Instructions for installing printer connections on BYOD computers are available below. Click on the appropriate link for installation instructions. If you do not see your printer listed, please submit a request to http://go.illinois.edu/mitshelp . Please do not add any queues for lab printers that are not listed in this table without consulting with Technology Services at FAA. Queues that are not listed may be disabled without notice.
