Library, Borrowing Policy and Access to Online Resources

Current students, staff and faculty have access to most Library resources. To request or borrow physical materials, current students, staff and faculty must have a current and non-expired I-Card with a library barcode issued to them. If the I-Card is expired, they need to contact the Urbana ID Center (idcenter@illinois.edu ).

Library borrowing privileges are documented here:  http://www.library.illinois.edu/circ/policies/Borrowing.html
People with questions about borrowing or requesting physical items from local or I-Share collections should contact Central Circulation at circlib@library.illinois.edu
Patrons wanting to request items from other libraries or institutions should place a request through Interlibrary Borrowing after making sure that the item is not available locally or through I-Share.

To use online resources, current students, staff, and faculty may access the resources without logging into the Library catalog. Useful information about accessing online resources on and off campus can be found at the article:

When viewing a record in the catalog for an item with full text, the links can be found by scrolling down the page to the "view Online" section of the page, below the citation information and the "Send To" sections.

Library available

People with questions about how to access or use the Library online resources or the online catalog should "Ask A Librarian".

Alumni may apply for a courtesy borrowing card to access University Library print materials. Online collections for courtesy card holders are restricted to in-person library visits for access using a public machine.
