Folder-level Notification Settings
You can change the email notification settings for specific folders and their child folders in Folder Settings.
While logged in to U of I Box, either right-click on a folder or hover over the folder row and click the "..." menu button, and then click Settings. You can set the radio selection to override your account default settings for that folder and its subfolders, and then mark the checkboxes for the actions you would like to be notified on.
The folder owner can also choose to disable all email notification for collaborators from the Folder Settings page.
IMPORTANT: Account- and folder-level notification settings only affect the current logged-in user. Any user who would like to alter their notification settings must do so on their individual account. Changing your notification settings will not change those of other folder collaborators.
Verify Notification Settings and Actions
Please review the settings above to ensure your account- and folder-level email notification settings are as expected.
You can view the timestamped actions performed by users which may trigger notifications for most files in the Box.
To view the Download and Preview actions, either right click on the file or click the "..." menu button and select Access Stats from the Properties menu.
To view comments, click on the file's name to open the preview view. Comments will be visible in the right side Activity pane.
Uploads will be apparent by the new files being in the folder. Deleted items in folders you own will be moved to the Trash folder.
Check Spam/Junk Folder
If you verified your notification settings and verified a triggering action has been performed, please check your Spam/Junk email folder. If you find Box messages in your Spam/Junk folder, add noreply@box.com to your email contacts or safe senders list to your email clients.
Contact Tech Service Support
Please contact the Technology Services Help Desk with the folder path and name from your Box account, the notification settings for the folder where the file is stored, and timestamps for any actions performed which should have triggered notifications.
