Adding Mini Slider to a page
How to add a mini slider display to a given page.
The mini slider is a variation of the featured image slider on the main page. It can be added to other pages with or without text.
Adding Taxonomy
Slider images are grouped with the Mini-Slider taxonomy. To create a new area, first add a new taxonomy term.
- Go to Structure > Taxonomy > Mini Sliders > List Terms and click Add Term.
- The only field you need to fill in is the title and click Save.
Create new Mini Slider View Display
After you have created the new taxonomy term, you need to create a new display on the Mini Slider view to display items from the new taxonomy term.
- Go to Structure > Views > Mini Slider > Edit.
- Select the default block, or if available, an already created filtered display.
- Whichever one you select, click the Duplicate block button on the right side to create a copy.
- Click the new display and click the Display Name value to change it to reflect the filter you will be adding.
- Now click Content: Has taxonomy term if it exists or click the add button next to the Filter Criteria heading. Set the operator to "is one of" and enter the taxonomy term you want to filter for.
- Then click Apply (this display) and click Save.
Adding the Slider to the page
Now that the taxonomy is created and the slider view block is ready, and the block to the page you want.
- Go to Structure > Block Layout and scroll to the region you want to add to (usually Main Content) and click the Place block button.
- Search for your newly created block and click it's Place block button.
- Now under visibility click the Pages option and enter the URL where you want the slider to show up.
- Click Save Block
- Drag the new block the appropriate position in the region and click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
The slider will now appear in the correct location
