Digital Signage, Player Installation and Configuration Resources
Korbyt
The Korbyt digital signage platform also supports a few different device types for delivering digital signage to campus. In this article we have included installation steps for the various devices currently used on campus. Supported hardware can be found at: https://kb.korbyt.com/article/supported-hardware/
Windows
There are two recommended methods for installing or upgrading your digital signs:
MECM (Campus Endpoint Management)
For new installations of Korbyt Windows Appliance (KWA), a shared application has been created in MECM:
Software Library > Overview > Application Management > Applications > MANAGED APPLICATIONS > Korbyt
If you are looking to remove Content Player and install KWA as part of a migration process, there is an example task sequence called DEMO Days-Fourwinds-to-Korbyt-Upgrade found under Software Library > Overview > Operating Systems > Task Sequences > .DEMO DAYS that can be copied to your departmental collections and used for this scenario.
File-based Installation
If you do not utilize endpoint management tools, we can provide the base installer and installation instructions.

Poppulo (FourWinds, FWi)
The Poppulo digital signage platform supports a few different device types for delivering digital signage to campus. In this article we have included installation steps for the various devices currently used on campus.
Windows
There are two recommended methods for upgrading your digital signs:
MECM (Campus Endpoint Management)
An example task sequence can be found under: Software Library > Operating Systems > Task Sequence > .DEMO DAYS > DEMO DAYS-Fourwinds Upgrade Example.
The latest releases of Content Player for Windows are available as Managed Applications in the campus MECM system.
We strongly suggest using a task sequence when upgrading content players, as it will stop existing processes, install Content Player, and then restarts the player.
File-based Installation
If the installer file is ran without the commands, it is highly likely the player application will fail after reboot or at login.
For those not using MECM, the files are located on the file server in the folder S:\FourWinds Content Installers\
Please review the DSS Read Me First - Updated <date>.txt file before upgrading as it contains commands to ensure proper installation and operation of signage.exe
Note: Those with access to the Poppulo Harmony Web App (formerly FWi Cloud) Devices module may see a click-to-upgrade button for their content players. While this feature may prove useful in the future, at this time we ask that it not be used for upgrading content players as doing so will install version 6.1 of the player application. Upgrading to v6 or later will break a signs ability to communicate and receive any new deployments.
SSP
Specific Samsung hardware is required to utilize Content Player for SSP. For assistance with installing SSP devices, please contact the Digital Signage Services team at digitalsignage@illinois.edu
