Online Fax service - RightFax

Learn more about RightFax, the university-approved service to replace copper-line fax machines on campus.

What is RightFax, anyway?

RightFax is a web-based fax service. It basically lets you send email with attachments to fax machines, and it lets you receive faxes in an inbox, instead of in paper form from a fax machine.

Why is RightFax a good option?

+ RightFax is available from anywhere and more people can fax at one time.
You don’t have to stand at the fax machine in your office to use it, and you don’t have to wait for someone else to finish using the copier/fax before you can send your documents. Businesses won’t get a busy signal when they’re sending something to you, and the document will come in to your RightFax account right away.
+ RightFax is more secure.
Fax machines tend to be in an open part of the office, where anyone passing through can observe what you’re faxing or accidentally pick up a received document from the copier/fax along with their own copies. With RightFax, everything is electronic and private.

Are there any downsides?

+ As with any new service, there are bound to be some adjustments. For one thing, you’ll need to scan any paper document that needs to be faxed. If you don’t have a scanner, or if the office scanner is far away, that can be inconvenient. Ask Admin IT if you need scanner recommendations.
+ It also takes a little time to set up, and you’ll need to learn how to use the RightFax website. It’s no more difficult than sending an email, but it is something new to learn.

I’m interested enough to try it, but I don’t know how to get started…
