Quck Start Guide to Using the Audio/Video equipment in W121 Turner Hall

W121 Turner Hall is equipped with a projector, 2 side mounted TV screens and a wide array of connection options for lecturers and instructors to use.
Turning on the System
To turn on the system, touch anywhere on the small AMX touch panel located at the lectern. Wait a few moments for the system and projector to warm up.
Select the source you would like to display to the projector and side TVs.
PC - This is the resident computer. For the most integrated experience we highly recommend using the resident PC for your lectures. We include software such as Zoom, Kaltura, Office and all the major web browsers. We also include a Logitech Spotlight software-driven slide advancer / laser pointer that is connected to the resident PC. We also have a Jabra Speak (aka hockey puck) available to use for picking up audio in the room. There is also a webcam installed on the resident PC if you'd like to record yourself while lecturing or if you are teaching in a hybrid course.
Log into the resident computer using your netid and password.
Wireless Presenter - This option allows you to present using a wireless connection in the room rather than needing to use an HDMI or other video cable. Select Wireless Presenter on the AMX sources panel. Instructions to connect to the wireless presenter will display on the screen.
HDMI - This option allows you to connect to the screens in the room with your laptop using the available HDMI cable tucked in the right side of the lectern. If you plan on using this option, ensure your laptop has an HDMI port available. Alternatively you can bring an adapter that will change your video output options from the laptop to HDMI. Audio is sent through an HDMI cable so no extra audio cabling is required for this option.
VGA - This option allows you to connect to the screens in the room with your laptop using the available VGA cable tucked in the right side of the lectern. If you plan on using this option, ensure your laptop has a VGA port available. If you want to pass audio through to the AV system in the room, you will also need to connect the3.5 mm audio jack into your computer as well.
Wall Plate Inputs - There are 2 wall plates located at the north and south walls of the room. These are located just underneath the large TVs in the room. You can connect a laptop to the HDMI or VGA connections to allow secondary laptops to display to the screens. Note for Fall 2021: Currently only the VGA ports are working. To use the wall plate input, select "wall plates" at the top of the AMX touch panel located at the lectern. Screen 1 is the plate on the North side of the room. Screen 2 is the plate on the South side of the room.
After your class
When you are done teaching for your session, if no class will be coming in right after yours, please shut the system off with the "system off" button located at the bottom of the AMX touch panel at the lectern. If a class IS teaching right after you, you can keep the system on. The projector has a 2 minute cooldown cycle before it can be turned on again. Don't forget to log out of the resident PC if you used it!
