Remoting into a Windows Computer from a Mac

  1. Check your network connection. Verify you are connected to IllinoisNet, and you have permission to remote in.
    1. Note: If you are off campus, you will need to create a VPN connection. See instructions VPN Instructions
  2. If you don’t have Windows App installed, go to the App Store, and download it
  3. Once installed, open Windows App
  4. Click the Windows App title in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select “Settings”
  5. Select the Gateways tab
  6. Click the + icon and enter the following information:
    1. Gateway Name: rdpgateway.illinois.edu
    2. Click the dropdown arrow next to the “User Account” Field and click Add User Account
      1. User Name: UOFI\YourNetIDHere
      2. Password: YourPassword
      3. Friendly Name: YourNetIDHere
    3. Click Save
    4. Select the User Account you just created
    5. Friendly Name: U of I RDP Gateway
    6. Click Save
  7. Now exit out of “Settings”
  8. Click the + icon and select “Desktop”
  9. In the PC field, type the name of the computer you are trying to access.
    1. i.e. KCH-PNC-D3
    2. If this doesn’t work, try including the domain
      1. i.e. KCH-PNC-D3.ad.uillinois.edu
