Freer Hall 224 AV Instructions

Freer Hall 224 is a classroom equipped with various audiovisual tools such as a desktop PC, HDMI cable, projector, and speakers. Detailed instructions are given for turning the system on and off, and contact information is provided for further assistance.

Faculty, staff, and students can request AV setup or training by submitting a ticket helpdesk@ahs.illinois.edu.

IMPORTANT: Please do NOT unplug any equipment. If you need to change the projector settings using the keyboard shortcut WIN+P, ensure you revert it back to Duplicate after your session. Thank you.

Equipment in this Classroom

  • Desktop PC provided by AHS-IT
  • HDMI cable for laptops
  • Projector
  • Projector remote
  • Computer speakers

Turning the System On

  • Ensure the computer is on:

    • Using the Room Desktop PC: Wake the computer by moving the mouse or pressing a key. If it’s off, turn it on using the power button and log in with your NetID and password. Remember to log off when done.

                    Desktop PC

    • Using a Laptop with HDMI: Connect the HDMI cable to your laptop’s HDMI port, power on your device, and sign in.

  • Lower the projector screen:

    • Locate the switch on the wall and press the down arrow button once.

  • Turn on the projector:

    • Press the power button on the remote. The computer’s screen should display on the projector screen.

  • Turn on the computer speakers:

    • Locate the speakers on the desk and turn the knob clockwise to power them on. Turn them off when done.

NOTE: The projector will automatically detect whether you are using the Desktop PC provided by AHS-IT or a connected laptop. The source should remain set to HDBaseT and should not be changed. Please avoid altering the settings on the switch located under the desk.

Turning the System Off

  • Log off the desktop if you used the room’s desktop PC.
  • Unplug your device if you used your own.
  • Turn off the projector by pressing the power button on the remote once. Wait for the confirmation screen, then press the power button again to complete the shutdown.

  • Turn off the speakers.
