224 Freer Classroom AV Instructions

How to use the AV equipment in 224 Freer

Faculty, staff, and students can request AV setup or training by submitting a ticket to the IT Partners @ AHS Helpdesk at helpdesk@ahs.illinois.edu.

SYSTEM START UP

  • Press the ON button on console to start the projection system and lower the screen.
  • Select the Input you would like to use by pressing PC, HDMI, or WIRELESS

PC FIRST LOGON? FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

  • Your first logon to any classroom computer takes a few seconds longer than subsequent logons.

PC Sound

  • Use the Volume knob on the console to adjust the speaker volume
    • If no sound is playing or if the sound is quiet, ensure the computer volume isn’t muted and increase it to the desired level

HDMI

  • Insert the HDMI cable on the lectern to your device
  • Press the HDMI button on the console

HDMI Sound (Mac)

  • Go to the Control Center on the Menu bar at the top of the screen
  • Click Sound
  • Under Output select Extron HDMI
  • Use the Volume knob on the console to adjust the speaker volume
    • If no sound is playing or if the sound is quiet, ensure the computer volume isn’t muted and increase it to the desired level

HDMI Sound (Windows)

  • Click on the Speaker icon on the Taskbar
  • Click the Arrow to the right of the Volume slider
  • Under Output device, Select Extron HDMI
  • Use the Volume knob on the console to adjust the speaker volume
    • If no sound is playing or if the sound is quiet, ensure the computer volume isn’t muted and increase it to the desired level

WIRELESS (Mac)

  • Go to the Control Center on the Menu bar at the top of the screen
  • Click Screen Mirroring
  • Select Freer 224
  • Enter the 4-digit code displayed on the screen
  • Select the Screen you would like to share, then Click Start Mirroring
  • Use your computer’s volume controls to adjust the speaker volume

DISCONNECTING (Mac)

  • Click the Screen Mirroring icon the screen mirroring menu on the Menu bar
  • Click Stop Mirroring

DISCONNECTING (Mac)

  • Click the Screen Mirroring icon the screen mirroring menu on the Menu bar
  • Click Stop Mirroring

ADJUSTING SYSTEM SPEAKER VOLUME

  • Turn the Volume knob on the console to the right to increase the speaker volume
  • Turn the Volume knob on the console to the left to decrease the speaker volume
    • The system volume will never reach 0
    • You will need to mute your device locally to remove all sound

MUTE

  • The Mute button on the console ONLY MUTES VIDEO
    • Audio will continue even after pressing MUTE on the console
  • Only the Computer monitor will continue to display video after pressing the MUTE button

SYSTEM SHUT DOWN

  • Sign out by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete then Click Sign out.
  • Press the OFF button on the console to shut down the projection system and raise the screen.
