Be Aware of Current Phishing Email Attempts - Best Practices and Guidance
Be Aware of Current Phishing Email Attempts
We hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you of a recent increase in email phishing attempts targeting our community. These malicious emails often appear from trusted sources and may ask for sensitive information or prompt you to click on suspicious links. Below is an example of the most recent phishing campaign:
Staff Assessment Report for 2025-2026
Heads-up: Multiple phishing campaigns prompt people to click through and log in to a fake authentication screen. Once they log in, their accounts are compromised and used to send the same fake email to people in their address book.
DO NOT CLICK the link, and DO NOT SIGN IN
Again, to protect yourself and our institution, please keep the following tips in mind:
- Verify the sender's email address: Ensure it matches the official domain of the organization.
- Be cautious with links and attachments: Do not click on links or open attachments from unknown or unexpected sources.
- Look for red flags: Poor grammar, urgent requests, and unfamiliar greetings can be signs of phishing.
- Report suspicious emails: Report a Phishing Email and or forward any suspicious emails to our IT Partners @ AHS or report-spam@illinois.edu
Your vigilance is crucial in maintaining our cybersecurity.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
