Remoting into a Windows Computer from a Mac
- Check your network connection. Verify you are connected to IllinoisNet, and you have permission to remote in.
- Note: If you are off campus, you will need to create a VPN connection. See instructions VPN Instructions
- If you don’t have Windows App installed, go to the App Store, and download it
- Once installed, open Windows App
- Click the Windows App title in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select “Settings”
- Select the Gateways tab
- Click the + icon and enter the following information:
- Gateway Name: rdpgateway.illinois.edu
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the “User Account” Field and click Add User Account
- User Name: UOFI\YourNetIDHere
- Password: YourPassword
- Friendly Name: YourNetIDHere
- Click Save
- Select the User Account you just created
- Friendly Name: U of I RDP Gateway
- Click Save
- Now exit out of “Settings”
- Click the + icon and select “Desktop”
- In the PC field, type the name of the computer you are trying to access.
- i.e. KCH-PNC-D3
- If this doesn’t work, try including the domain
- i.e. KCH-PNC-D3.ad.uillinois.edu
