Setting Up Voicemail in Microsoft Teams

This guide outlines the steps to set up and manage voicemail in Microsoft Teams.

Before You Begin

You can access Microsoft Teams in various ways. Below are instructions for using the desktop app and the web version.

  • Desktop App: Accessible when the app is open on your computer.
  • Web Version: Ensure your web browser allows notifications for Teams to receive calls and messages.

Setting Up Voicemail in Teams

  1. Open Microsoft Teams (Desktop App or Web Version) and log in with your university account.
  2. If prompted with a 911 acknowledgment, read it carefully and click OK.
  3. Click the three dots (ellipsis) ... near your profile picture (top-right corner).

    Click the three dots near your profile picture then select Settings

  4. Select Settings → Calls.

  5. Scroll down to Manage Voicemail, where you can:
    • Record a greeting.
    • Adjust voicemail settings, such as call forwarding options.

Listening to Voicemails

  1. Open Microsoft Teams (Desktop App or Web Version)
  2. Click the Calls icon in the left-side menu.
  3. On the right side, you will see your Call History, including any voicemail messages.

  4. Voicemail messages are also delivered to your Exchange mailbox as an audio file with a text transcript of the message.
