Clearing the "Microsoft Office Activation Wizard" Notice
This page is intended to troubleshoot the notice from "Microsoft Office Activation Wizard: This copy of Microsoft Office is not activated." The simple solution is to close all of Office and connect to Cisco VPN for reactivation from our network; steps are detailed below.
- Close out of ALL Office programs (Outlook, Skype, Word, etc.)
- Open your Windows start menu
- Run the "Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client" VPN program
- The first field of VPN server should read: vpn.cites.illinois.edu
- Click the Connect button
- Username: your netID
- Password: your password
- Leave Cisco VPN running for a minute
- Check for Office reactivation by opening Word
- Go to File on the top toolbar
- Select Account on the left sidebar
- Check for "Product Activated" under the Office logo
