HR-60 PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS/HEALTH ASSESSMENTS
A new physical examination/health assessment is not required for employees recalled within three months from a date of layoff or for retired employees who accept new employment within three months from the date of retirement. Physical examinations/health assessments once completed are valid for a period of three month for new employees. Physical examinations/health assessments are not required under one-time payment procedures.
Recalls From Layoffs
A new physical examination/health assessment will not be required for employees recalled from layoff status within three months from the date of layoff. Employees recalled from layoff within this time span will not require a new clearance from the McKinley Health Center. Exceptions will include those cases where an employing official in the unit request a new physical examination/health assessment or where the recalled employee may have suffered an obvious change in physical or medical status. Such requests must be initiated through the Staff Human Resources Office Placement section.
Return From Retirement
A new physical examination/health assessment will not be required for former employees in retirement status who accept new employment within three months from the date of retirement. Exceptions will include those cases where an employing official in the unit requests a new physical examination/health assessment or where the former employee may have suffered an obvious change in physical or medical status. Such requests must be initiated through the Staff Human Resources Office Placement section.
New Employees
A satisfactorily completed physical examination/health assessment is valid for a period of time not to exceed three months from the initial date of the examination. A new employee may begin work at any time within this three-month period without a new clearance from the McKinley Health Center. Exceptions will include those individuals who may have suffered an obvious change in physical or medical status.
One-Time Payments
Physical examinations/health assessments are not required where one-time payment procedures are used and on other occasions where the work is of similarly short duration. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is authorized to grant these exceptions as noted by general understanding that this authority has been delegated to the Chancellor.
