HR-12: APPROVED PUBLIC SERVICE ACTIVITIES
The Chancellor has designated additional approved events for employees on the Urbana-Champaign campus.
The following activities have been designated by the Chancellor as approved events for employees on the Urbana-Champaign campus. Additional approved events for civil service staff are listed in Policy 11, Rule 11.12, Excused Absences with Pay/Approved Events in Policy and Rules. An employee participating in approved events, as designated by Policy and Rules, or the Chancellor, may be released from work, operations permitting, without loss of pay subject to prior approval from his/her supervisor.
Up to two hours may be used to participate in the VIP Blood Drive or in response to an emergency need of the Champaign County Blood Bank.
Volunteer service requiring time off from work in response to an emergency declared by Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) or activation by ESDA of the Disaster Response Team.
Up to and including five days annually for public officials to perform duties required by the office or position.
Time spent in response to a subpoena issued by the court.
Formally organized volunteer mentoring activities for local elementary and secondary students in support of target campus outreach efforts. Such commitments would generally not exceed one hour per week.
