Method Two: System Information
- Click the Search icon
in your taskbar.
- Type System in the search box and press Enter.
- Look for the UIE-computer name, which contains the Dell Service Tag.
Example: The Dell Service Tag is BCVYKM3 in the image below.
Step 2: Determine Eligibility
- To determine if the computer is eligible for the [Windows 11 Upgrade], visit Dell's Driver and Downloads Support page: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us?app=drivers
- In the Identify your product search box, enter your computer's Service Tag number. Click Search.
- After the search completes, you will see information about your computer.
- If you see a banner indicating ineligibility, your computer cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.
- If you do not see a Windows 11 banner, your computer is eligible or already running Windows 11. For eligible Windows 10 computers, the upgrade will be available in the Software Center.
Note: If the upgrade does not appear after a day or two, please contact the [Extension IT Help Desk] for assistance.
Step 3: Next Steps for Ineligible Computers
If your computer is not eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade:
- Inform your unit’s office support staff.
- They should arrange to replace your computer with a Windows 11 machine from inventory or through the Extension Replacement Cycle (ERC).
- All ineligible computers should be data-wiped and sent to Campus Surplus.
Important: Support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025.
Any computers not upgraded to Windows 11 by that date will be disabled and removed from the Extension network.
