New Students, Tech Zone Computer Recommendations
The University of Illinois does not have a universal computer recommendation that fits every student. Each college/major may have specific requirements based on software and tools used in their curriculum. Some programs may require more powerful hardware to support intensive applications, while others may have more flexible needs. Because of this, Technology Services strongly encourages students to consult their college's individual guidelines when selecting a device.
Tech Zone Information
Tech Zone is an Apple Authorized Campus Store that provides a variety of Apple and Dell products for students. They are a separate entity from Technology Services, and have their own recommendations for devices based on a student's major. Technology Services does not sell any tech products, but we will do our best to get University services running on most devices presented to us (including ones from Tech Zone).
