Departmental Labs

In addition to the college-owned instructional spaces detailed above, Engineering IT also provides workstations and support for departmentally-owned instructional spaces. These are designed to support the specific requirements of the respective departments and courses using them. A departmental lab may be a classroom, an open computer lab, a computer lab specifically designed to support a particular course, a single computer attached to an instrument to gather data for a course, or anywhere in between.

These are often still referred to as "EWS labs", since Engineering IT's EWS team provides workstations and technical support for these spaces. However Engineering IT does not manage the physical spaces. Scheduling, reservations, and physical access for departmental labs are the responsibility of the owning department.

Remote Locations

In partnership with other units across campus, EWS also supports workstations in the following campus buildings,

  • Chez Veterans Center
  • Florida Avenue Residence Hall (FAR)
  • Illinois Street Residence Hall (ISR)
  • Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Hall (PAR)
  • Student Dining and Residential Programs Building (SDRP)
  • Illini Center, Chicago
