Anaconda in EWS

Engineering IT does not recommend using Anaconda in EWS.

For students

Engineering IT does not recommend using Anaconda in EWS. This is because Anaconda downloads a complete package library on install regardless of which packages are needed. This consistently causes issues where students run over their storage limit in EWS. (Students have a limit of 10GB of storage that is shared between their Windows and Linux home directories.) In general, Engineering IT recommends using virtualenv to customize python in EWS. For detailed information, see [Link for document 81695 is unavailable at this time]

For instructors

If you are an instructor and anaconda is required for a class (for example if a required package is available only through conda), please contact Engineering IT at https://go.illinois.edu/ewshelp
