Adobe Acrobat: Unlocking all features
If an Adobe license hasn't been applied to a copy of Acrobat, all options related to PDF editing will be grayed out. Here is how to apply the license and edit PDFs.
Signing into Acrobat
- Open Acrobat and look for a "Sign in" button in the upper right corner of the window.

- Click "Sign in," enter your full Illinois email address into the dialog, then press Continue.

- Select "Company or School Account" on the next screen, then go through the UIUC sign-in process, including Duo 2FA.
- After you are done signing in, the popup window will close, and there will be an account info menu in the upper-right corner of Acrobat.

- You should now be able to edit PDFs in Acrobat.
Verifying License Information
If you're signed into Acrobat, but you still can't use all its features:
- In a web browser, navigate to https://account.adobe.com/plans
- Sign into Adobe with your Illinois email address.
- Select "Work or School Account" and finish signing in.
- After signing in, verify that you have an "Adobe for Enterprise" plan. Click "View all apps and services" and verify that Acrobat appears in the list.

- If you do not have an "Adobe for Enterprise" plan: faculty or staff should reach out to their IT helpdesk. If you are a professor emeritus or a student, you may have to purchase a plan yourself.
- Navigate to "Activated devices", and make sure that the affected computer is listed. If it doesn't appear on the list, you may have to deactivate a device to free up a seat for it.
