Applying the Engineering Course Template to a publish.illinois.edu Website

This article gives step by step instructions for creating a publish.illinois.edu (PIE) website using the engineering course template.

Get Started with PIE (publish.illinois.edu)

Request a site by going to: http://go.illinois.edu/getpie
Log in to publish.illinois.edu once you have requested your site. To get to your site's Dashboard, go to the My Sites menu in the gray bar or visit your site.
Preview the template here https://publish.illinois.edu/engineeringtemplate/. The template provides placeholders for headings, text, and pages. Once imported, you can edit all the placeholders with your own content.

Once your publish.illinois.edu website is established, import the engineering course template.

Download the template file to import. (Right-click the template file, choose Save link as...)
Log in at publish.illinois.edu
Navigate to your site Dashboard. In the top toolbar choose My Sites, {name of your site}, Dashboard
- Under Dashboard, choose Tools, choose Import.
- Click Run Importer.
- Click Choose File.
- Navigate to the downloaded template file.
- Click Upload file and import.
- Under Assign Authors, Import author: Melissa or assign posts to an existing user, click the drop down and choose your name. Click Submit.
- You'll see the "All done" message, meaning the import is successful.

Once the import is complete, apply the same theme as the template.

Now, assign the template's Overview page as your home page.

In the Dashboard, choose Settings, click Reading
Set Your homepage displays:
- Select A static page (select below)
- Homepage: choose Overview
- Click Save Changes

Edit the pages with your content.
