Anaconda in EWS

Engineering IT does not recommend using Anaconda in EWS.

For students

Engineering IT does not recommend using Anaconda in the EWS Linux environment. This is because Anaconda downloads a complete package library on install regardless of which packages are needed and stores the content in your EWS Home Directory, which has a limited quota. This consistently causes issues where students run over their storage limit in EWS. In general, Engineering IT recommends using virtualenv to customize python when using the EWS Linux environment.

For instructors

If you are an instructor and anaconda is required for a class (for example if a required package is available only through conda), please contact Engineering IT at https://go.illinois.edu/ewshelp
