Wireless Presentation - Ditto
Instructions for presenting wirelessly with Ditto
What is Ditto?
Ditto is a software product that facilitates wireless video connections between customer computers and installed AV hardware.
Engineering IT is currently piloting Ditto as a universal wireless presentation solution. The inital pilot in Fall 2017 is focusing on utilizing Ditto with existing Apple TVs. This allows Windows PCs, Apple OSX PCs, and Apple iOS devices to connect to the Apple TVs. Initial hardware testing is also underway with a different wireless receiver that will also allow most Android based devices to connect wirelessly.
Where is Ditto Available?
Ditto is currently available in select Engineering IT supported rooms with additional rooms coming online as testing progresses:
- CSL 301
- DCL 1265
- DCL 3211
- EH 301
- EH 312
- MEB 143
- Siebel 1112
- Siebel 1314
- Siebel 2102
- Siebel 2124
- Siebel 2303
- Siebel 3102
- Siebel 3124
- Siebel 4102
- Siebel 4124
Wireless receivers configured to work with Ditto will display on-screen instructions similar to the following image:
Note: There is a bug in the 4th generation Apple TVs that is currently preventing Engineering IT from setting custom onscreen instructions. Configured 4th generation Apple TVs will display a connect.goditto.com address; navigating to the displayed address will allow customers to connect to the Apple TV using Ditto.
How to present wirelessly with Ditto
- Connect your supported device to IllinoisNet or IllinoisNet_Guest.
- Navigate to connect.goditto.com
- Enter the 2 word room code displayed on the reciever device and click "Lauch"
- Follow the on-screen instructions for your device
- Ditto receiver devices on campus are setup to require customers to enter a 4-digit on-screen code to begin sharing. You will be prompted to enter this code after you click "Start Sharing" but before your device begins displaying.
Note: If your device is not compatible with the receiver you try to connect to, you will receive a non-compatibility message.
How do I get help with Ditto?
To get help with Ditto please email us at email@example.com. Please be sure to include which room you are trying to connect to and what the device you are connecting from is.
I would like to help pilot Ditto. How do we get involved?
To get involved in the Ditto pilot program please email us firstname.lastname@example.org. Please let us know what rooms/spaces you are interested in piloting and whether or not there is any existing AV equipment available in these spaces.
I teach in a general assignment classroom with an Apple TV. Can I use Ditto here?
No, you cannot at this time. The Ditto pilot program is currently only supported in Engineering IT supported AV spaces. Engineering IT or Tech Services may make Ditto available in these spaces in the future, but these options will not be explored until the pilot program has completed and a full solution for universal wireless presentation is implemented by Engineering IT.
