EWS Labs, Remote Access, Using Linux Apps Remotely with X-Forwarding

You can use the X Window system on Linux to run programs.

The X Window System is used on many Linux machines. Under this system, it easy to run programs remotely and make them appear as if they were run on the local machine.  For most use cases our Fast-X service should be sufficient.

X-Forwarding for Windows

X-Forwarding for Mac

X-Forwarding for Unix/Linux

NOTE: It is important to keep in mind that X applications require more data to be sent to the display than traditional Linux text-based applications. Please exercise good judgment when X-forwarding graphic-intensive applications from the EWS workstations.
