LAS Framework - Research Areas
How to add research areas to the LAS Framework
To add a Research Area to a faculty profile, you will first need to create the research area terms.
Creating and tagging Research Areas
- Go to Structure > Taxonomy > Research
Areas
- From there, you will see a table with a list of research
area terms available. If there are none
available, or you need to add a new term click the ‘Add Term’ button at the top
of the page.
- Add your research area in the Name field. If you would like
to add a description you can, but this is optional. This description will show on
the list of faculty associated with the research area.
- Once you have some research area terms available, to tag faculty members go to your
faculty or staff profile page and click the ‘Edit your profile’ button under
the photo.
- You will see the list of Research Areas listed under the Role and Email sections. Check the Research Areas you would like to be associated with this faculty member and scroll down to the bottom to save the page.
Editing an existing Research Area Page
- Go to Structure > Taxonomy > Research Areas
- From the list of Research Areas, click the 'Edit' button to the right of the area page you would like to edit
- Edit or add content to the page, then hit Save.
Removing a Research Area
- Go to Structure > Taxonomy > Research Areas
- From the list of Research Areas, click the arrow to the right of the 'Edit' button to open the dropdown menu and click 'Delete'
- Confirm your choice to delete the research area on the next page
Remove a faculty member from a research area page
- Go to the faculty member's profile page
- Click the 'Edit your profile' button beneath the faculty photo
- You will see the list of Research Areas listed under the Role and Email sections. Uncheck the box next to the research area you would like the faculty member removed from.
- Scroll down to the bottom to save the page.
