Learn@Illinois Moodle - Publish Your Moodle Course in Canvas via Entire Course LTI

Learn how to connect your Moodle course to Canvas via the Entire Course LTI option. For a permanent link to this information, please use:

First, ATLAS needs to enable the LTI for your course(s). For FA24, all LAS courses previously hosted on Moodle will automatically have the Entire Course LTI enabled starting in mid-June 2024. To request the LTI for any other semester, please use

  1. Request a Canvas space on the Space Request Application.

    1. Navigate to
    2. Follow the instructions here to request your Canvas site.
  2. Once your Canvas site is created, add a new module.   Canvas interface to add a new module

  3. Click the plus icon and then select External Tool from the drop-down menu.                                               Plus icon to add content in CanvasSelect External Tool from the drop down menu

  4. Scroll and select Moodle from the list.                              Select Moodle from the list of tools

  5. Click the check boxes next to your course and click Add content.  Your course name with two checkboxes for Course and Gradebook

  6. Click Add Item.                                                           Click Add Item button

  7. Click into the link to see your Moodle course embedded into Canvas. Note: You must click into the site for the roster to start syncing.                                                                             LTI shows up as a link in the module you created

  8. When you're ready for the site to be available to students, click the circle with the slash through it to Publish your material.                                    Green checkmarks indicate the material is published
