Sanitizing Computer Equipmnet

The following are recommendations for sanitizing computer equipment.

A solution of at least 70% isopropyl alcohol / 30% or less water should be used:

  • Keyboard and Mouse:  Spray a towel with the solution and wipe down the keyboard.  Spraying directly on the keyboard or mouse is discouraged.
  • Phones:  Same procedures as keyboards.
  • Monitors:  Monitors should be powered off before cleaning.  The screen should never be directly sprayed but can be wiped down with caution to prevent drips from penetrating the monitor case. A soft, non-abrasive cloth is recommended.  Specific Dell instructions are here: How to Clean the LCD Panel on your Dell Laptop, All-In-One Computer or Monitor
