Teams: Yealink MP50 USB Phone Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting steps for MP50 having misc issues with dialing out from the MP50 touchpad or touch screen.

Troubleshooting Tips

  1. Make sure they are running the current version of "New" Teams on the PC.  (Teams > Settings > About Teams)
  2. Upgrade Firmware to current version:
    1. Download Yealink USB Connect (online https://www.yealink.com/en/product-detail/usb-connect-management or in csinstalls$ Yealink folder)
    2. USB Connect should allow upgrading to most current version, but have seen instance where it thought an older version was current.  Use manual install in that case.
      1. Yealink current base firmware version 1.31.420.0.10 as of 7/31/2024.
      2. Download most current .rom from Yealink's MP50 Support page for firmware (currently:  https://support.yealink.com/en/portal/docList?archiveType=software&productCode=ba2d026a75038626)
  3. In Teams Calls screen, change audio device to MP50 if it is not changing automatically when calls are initiated.
  4. Restart the MP50 phone (from the USB connect software preferred, but power cycling should work).
  5. Completely log out of Teams and then log back in.  May need to disconnect USB device and then plug back into USB after Teams restart.
  6. Use power adapter if only running off of USB power.
  7. If the MP50 is connecting (paired) to a Bluetooth device, Unpair it.

Note:  Items #1 - 3 mostly result in inability to dial out from touchpad or touchscreen, no audio, or inability to end the call from the MP50 device.  #4 mostly allows a call to be initiated, but then drops the call suddenly.

Incorrect Expectations

  1. Lifting the handset does not automatically switch the call to the handset mode on this model.  Hit the headset icon to switch from speaker phone to handset.
  2. To end a current or incoming call the red button is a double tap (not a single tap).
