Policy
Only authorized personnel will have access to process deletion transactions in the Health Information System (HIS).
Guidelines
The deletion function will be used in the HIS to correct errors in procedure entries in the patient’s electronic medical record, procedures anticipated but not actually performed, and to remove procedures that were inadvertently entered. Pharmacy and Imaging charges will be deleted by authorized personnel in respective services.
Veterinary Teaching Hospital will analyze the HIS deletion report every month

Access the patient charge screen and under the Actions column for the item in question, click on the delete icon. Enter an explanation for removing the procedure entry. If necessary, additional information may be entered as a client communication.

- Procedures that automatically rolled into the invoice but were not performed.

Authorized personnel – Faculty, Veterinary Technicians, Interns, Residents, Charge Auditor within the VTH Business Office, and full-time employees in Client Services.
Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) – The collective clinical services of the Large Animal Clinic, Midwest Equine, the Small Animal Clinic, and the Veterinary Medicine South Clinic.
