Policy

To provide a safe environment for all employees, as well as students, visitors and service personnel by monitoring VTH access. It is important to regulate the presence and movement of contractors, service personnel and visitors on premises in order to provide a secure environment that protects the efficiency and integrity of our faculty, house officers, students, visitors, service personnel, and patients. All visitors (non-College of Veterinary Medicine Employees or Students), including contractors and service personnel, are to enter the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) through the Small Animal Clinic (SAC) or Large Animal Clinic (LAC) Main Entrances. Logbooks and badges are available at these locations.

Guidelines

All visitors shall record requested information onto the Visitor Log.

Visitor badges are identified with a number and shall be assigned to the visitor at the time of arrival. Visitor Badges must be worn at all times that the visitor is in VTH. Employees are instructed to immediately report anyone not properly identified, or suspicious activity, to the VTH Office.

Once a Visitor Badge has been assigned, the SAC and LAC admissions personnel will contact the appropriate authorized person with access to the VTH, to meet the visitor requiring access to the VTH.

Visitors shall return the badges and log out at the same entrance they arrived, SAC or LAC Main Entrances.

Visitors who are at the VTH for multiple days must follow all procedures associated with this policy (Check-In, Check-Out, etc.) on each day of their visit.

Visitors of the VTH who will be accompanied at all times during their visit (i.e. Tour groups, lecturers, etc.) do not need to sign the Visitor Log or wear a Visitor Badge. If the Visitor will be unaccompanied at some point during their visit, the procedure for receiving a Visitor Badge should be followed. The Visitor Access Program policy will be suspended during public event held in or around the VTH.

Contractors or other non-College of Veterinary Medicine facilities personnel must either follow this policy, or clearly display their University of Illinois identification, or clearly display Company logo/branding. If Company logo/branding information will be used to identify the visitor while in the VTH, the College Facilities personnel working with the contractors will notify the VTH Office of the companies that will be working in the VTH.

Parking: Visitors shall park in one of the four designated LAC client parking spaces or request a hang-tag for metered parking.

Definitions (if applicable)
