Illinois Compass 2g, Issues, Freezing or Errors caused by Java

I am using Compass 2g and I am receiving this error during my session: "The application's digital signature has an error. Do you want to run the application?", or box pops up when using Compass and freezes my browser.

One of the fundamental troubleshooting steps if you're having problems with Compass 2g is to make sure the version of Java installed on your computer is up to date, especially if those issues involve a browser that closes or freezes, buttons that are unresponsive, files that don't display or open properly, or other page issues.

You can check your Java version and update if needed via
. Sometimes trying a different browser may also work if certain plugins, extensions, or add-ons are causing Java problems.

The following error message may appear when using Compass:
"The application's digital signature has an error. Do you want to run the application?"

This error may cause Compass to freeze your browser if not properly dealt with. To correct the error:
1. Check the box under "Always trust content from this publisher."
2. Click "Run"

You may need to force quit your browser and restart it. The error message should not appear when launching Compass.

We have also seen the Java Quick Starter add-on in Mozilla Firefox cause problems. You will need to disable it in order for Illinois Compass to work correctly:
1. Click on "Tools"
2. Select "Add-Ons"
3. Click on the "Java Quick Starter" to select it
4. Click on the "Disable" button.

Some current tablets and mobile devices, such as the iPad, do not support Java, so using Compass 2g on said devices may not work.
